Event Description

Bangkok cricket Academy is introducing Indoor cricket league ,which is the first ever indoor league in Bangkok. It is 8a side game which is played either by indoor cricket ball,tape ball or even a tennis ball.This form of cricket is full of fun This event will run for 3 weekends starting 18th July and ending on 2nd August 2009. Total 12 prominent teams are playing in this tournament which is a fund raiser for development of cricket at junior level.For further information write to (bangkokcricket@hotmail.com)

The 1st Bangkok Indoor cricket league(BICL) ended with great success.12 teams participated in this tournament which ran through 3 weekends from 18th July to 2nd August,2009.The results are as follows..
Cup winners - Bangkok Stars CC ,Cup runners up - Champions CC
Shield winners -Asia united 1,Shield runners up - BCA team.
Bowl winners - Bangkok 11 CC ,Bowl runners up - Southerners.
Spoon winners - Krishna Cricket Club,Spoon runners up Chicha boys.
All the teams were presented with Gold medals for their participation in the tournament which was full of fun and laughter.Indoor cricket is new to Thailand and Bangkok Cricketers had a lot of fun during these 3 weekends.

Stay tuned.......... Sunday league is next..Will start soon.7 teams already booked their berth and other teams will be informed about the dates soon.

1st Bangkok Indoor cricket league - update...
2 weekends full of fun cricket has gone through successfully and coming weekend ( 1st and 2nd August ) is the last one.BCL chairman Vaughan McClear had all the appreciations for the facilities at Bangkok Cricket Academy during the Indoor league. Some results-last week - Semi Finals for cup - Winners are Bangkok Stars and Champions,Semi Finals for Shield -Winners were Asia united 1 and BCA team.Semi finals for Bowl and Cup will be held this Saturday where 6 teams are competing( Southerners,Chicha boys,Fortune,KCC,KingFisher and BKK 11. And Grand Finals will be held on Sunday(2nd August) from 10 a.m. for Cup,Shield,Bowl and Spoon. BCA has arranged gold medals for all the participants of the 1st Bangkok Indoor cricket league-2009

First ever Bangkok Indoor Cricket league was launched successfully by Bangkok Cricket Academy on 18th July,2009 at BCA Academy grounds.Out of 12 prominent teams 8 have already played their first round games.
In group A -
Bangkok Stars=3/3 wins,Asia united one 2/3 wins,King Fisher 1/3 wins and Fortune CC 0/3.
In group B , Champions CC 3/3 wins,BCA team 2/3 wins, BKK 11-1/3 wins and KCC = 0/3. A day full of fun and laughter for Bangkok cricketers.
This Saturday Group C will play their first round..and teams are Southerners CC,Asia United 2,Chicha boys and AIT students team.

5. No Ball
a) If the batsmen do not run when a No Ball is called, a penalty of two runs shall be credited under extras. This shall apply even though the balls hits the ceiling, a side or a back wall/net.
b) If the batsmen does not strike the ball and completes a run, two runs shall be credited under extras.
c) If a striker hits a No Ball the number of runs resulting, as specified in rules above, shall be added to his score, plus the penalty shall be added to the total in addition under extras.
d) no extra ball shall be given unless it is the 12th over.
6. Wide
a) A Wide-Ball (all leg side balls are wide) and shall score two penalty run, recorded as a Wide extras, in addition to any runs scored under (b) and (c) below.
b) A Wide Ball delivery is called if it hits the ceiling or any wall/net before reaching the batsman.
c) If the batsmen complete a run, 1 run shall be given to the wide extras and not the batsmen totals.
d) no extra ball shall be given unless it is the 12th over.
7. Any overthrow hitting any wall/net shall not add any runs unless the batsmen complete a physical run.
8. No runs shall be scored if a batsman is out caught off the wall/nets or ceiling even off a six

METHODS OF DISMISSAL
Apart from the normal methods of dismissal contained in the Laws of Cricket the following variations shall apply:

• The striker shall be caught out by a fielder after the ball has hit the ceiling, any wall/net even directly from the boundary wall/net, provided the ball has not touched the floor. N.B. the fielder is permitted to touch the wall/net or netting while making a good catch.
• The last not-out batsman shall be given out if the non-striker running with him/her is run out.
• The striker or the non-striker shall be given not out if the ball rebounds from a wall/net or ceiling and hits a wicket without being touched by the fieldsman.
• The run out will be decided using the designated ‘crease’ lines at either end even where they are not as per the regulation 4 feet from the stumps.
• LBW laws will not apply so will not be out.

BCA Indoor Cricket League RULES

TEAM REQUIREMENTS
• A squad shall comprise of up to 10 players with a min of 6 and a maximum of 8 players being declared prior to each game.
• Substitutions may only be made in the event of injury occurring during an individual match subs will not be able to bat or bowl.
RESTRICTION CATEGORIES
• There will only be no age group limit but normal white dress code will apply
GAME LAWS/ RULES
The MCC laws of cricket shall apply from the preceding cricket season, with the exception of the following playing regulations rules.

1. Teams shall consist of up to 8 players including 1 keeper who should use gloves on delivery of the ball.
2. Each match shall consist of one innings per team.
3. Each innings shall consist of the up to twelve six ball overs.
4. No bowler may bowl more than two overs. (In the case of a bowler becoming incapacitated, the over shall be completed by a bowler who has not bowled two overs even if he bowled the proceeding over). Underarm bowling will not be accepted.
5. If in the opinion of the umpire, negative or short pitched bowling becomes persistent he shall call and signal "No Ball".
6. Two batsmen shall be at the wicket at all times during an innings. In the event of a team losing the penultimate wicket within the permitted overs, the not out player shall continue batting with the last out player remaining at the wicket as a runner.
7. When a batsman reaches a personal total of 20 off the bat he/she shall retire but may return to the crease if his/her side is dismissed within the twelve overs. (in strict as out rotation order)
8. The pitch length will be: 22 yards unless otherwise agree prior to the match
9. The "indoor cricket" ball supplied shall be used for both innings.
10. Standard bats are used but plastic bats may be used if desired.
11. Pads and gloves and protective equipment are optional except for the keeper as above.

RESULTS
• The team scoring the most runs in its innings shall be the winner.
• If the team scores of both teams are equal, then the team losing the fewer wickets shall be the winner.
• If the teams are still equal, then each member of both teams shall bowl one ball; the team hitting the stumps the greater number of times shall be the winner.
• In a round robin pool situation, if at the end of the competition two or more teams have an equal amount of points, then the winner shall be decided by the team with the higher overall scoring rate per over/ball.
• Teams which are all out in under their full allocation of overs shall be regarded as divided by the full 12 overs. If two teams are still equal, then the winner of the match between the two teams shall count.

SCORING
1. A ball struck to hit the boundary wall/net directly behind the bowler without touching the floor or any other wall/net or ceiling shall count six runs. If, however, the ball touches the floor but does not touch any of the other wall/nets or the ceiling and directly hits the boundary wall/net, then it shall count as four runs.
2. A ball struck to hit the ceiling or one or more of the side or back wall/nets shall count one run, even if the ball subsequently hits the boundary wall/net. Additional runs shall be scored if the batsmen complete a run. (If the ball is struck to hit the ceiling or side or back wall/net and a batsman is then run out, one run shall be scored).
3. One run shall be scored if the striker plays the ball and it does not hit a wall/net directly and the batsmen completes a run.
4. Byes/Leg Byes shall not count as one run if the ball hits a wall/net;. However In each case if the batsmen complete a run, an additional runs shall be scored.
5. It will be a valid fielding stop even if part of the body touches the boundary wall/net so if the fielder prevents the ball from touching the boundary even while touching the wall/net no wall/net runs will accumulate.

Dear all,
The event has been moved to 18th and 19th July upon request of certain teams and players.Also we have Indoor cricket matches for juniors on 11th and 12th July. Kindly make changes in your calender. Rules and fee structure will be posted on web site soon and also will be e-mailed to all the teams. Thanks. Harry
